The owners of that property (immensely popular, but since sold so sadly no longer available) are antique dealers and have been largely responsible for the superb fittings and furnishings of this house which they also manage.

The restoration work has taken an age, but all is now finished to a very high standard, and the house beautifully furnished with good quality antique furniture.

There are plans to enlarge the property into the roof at some point in the future, which would provide an extra bedroom and bathroom.

In the meantime, however, the present arrangement is very satisfactory and may be even better in 2002 as the owner is considering the installation of a jacuzzi (not, however, guaranteed).


The house and its out buildings are stone-built and exposed stone and beams abound inside. Typical of the region, the entrance to the former is at raised ground floor level, reached by an outside staircase.

The enclave has a very peaceful setting in about one and a half acres of land within a tiny hamlet of four or five residences, one of which adjoins the house.

Pretty views from the pool and grounds over the surrounding countryside, and very safe for children as a long way from any traffic.

You can expect lovely countryside and villages in this superb area which is within an easy day's drive from Calais, mainly auto route, part of which (A20) is toll-free.

Very nicely situated for sightseeing as the house is within easy reach of all the main attractions of the Lot and Dordogne, such as Rocamadour, Sarlat, Collonges La Rouge, Domme and Carennac.

River swimming is available at various spots. Situated near (probably about two miles) the pretty village of Curemonte, which has a bar and restaurant.

Despite the seclusion and quiet, the major town of Brive is within thirty minutes to the North, whilst Souillac, to the South, takes about the same time.

Both are good for major shopping, though Souillac can be a traffic nightmare at times.
