This imposing, spacious and very attractive house has been beautifully restored and finished. The owners actually 
live in the property for much of the year so, as you can imagine, it has every amenity one could possibly want and has been furnished to a very high standard. This does mean, however, that they have asked not to take children although a baby under one year is very welcome.
The house is situated on the edge of the village of Castelsagrat, a bastide founded in 1270. Being near the village means you can take a stroll down to the bakery, rather than having to get the car out whilst, at the same time, having the benefit of lovely views from the house and grounds. The village also boasts a post office, a village store and a cafe. Being right on the "edge of town" means that the minute you step outside the house, you are immediately in the midst of very pretty rolling countryside.
The Tarn-et-Garonne is very similar to the Lot-et-Garonne, both in respect to the character stone buildings and the lovely countryside with rounded hills. Again not vineyard country, mainly maize, sunflowers and fruit orchards, particularly plums as the area is noted for its "pruneax d'Agen" (prunes). If you always thought you hated prunes, please try these, they are delicious and nothing like the American dried-up things one normally gets in Britain.
Castelsagrat itself has a beautiful village centre and, besides the facilities mentioned above, also has a restaurant. A number of villages in the area have good value restaurants but if you really want to push the boat out (make sure you have taken out a second mortgage first), there is "L'Aubergade" a starred Michelin at Puymirol. Valence d'Agen, which has an excellent Tuesday market, and Moissac are the nearest small towns for more dedicated shopping. Other facilities are horse-riding, golf near Valence d'Agen and tennis about 5 km away.
When the house is let, the owners occupy the adjoining cottage. If you wish to be alone then you are but, if you have any problems or simply want some pointers on where to eat, they are on hand to help. They will, if required, also cook for you.

Entrance into enormous Living/Dining Room (40 feet long) with plenty of comfortable furniture, satellite TV/radio, music centre, central staircase to first floor. Superb well-equipped Kitchen: range of cupboards, double oven gas cooker, dishwasher. Utility: washing machine, fridge/freezer. Garden/Breakfast Room: table and chairs, French doors to covered terrace and garden.
First floor:
2 lovely bedrooms, the large main bedroom with king-size bed (which can be used as twin beds if required), fitted cupboards, views over rolling hills, the second bedroom with twin beds, nice views. Main Bathroom: bath with shower attachment, basin, bidet, WC. Shower Room: with shower, basin, WC. Linen and towels (but not pool towels) are included in the rental cost.
Own terrace; pretty gardens and pool shared with owners. Garden furniture and barbecues provided. The salt water swimming pool is 8m x 4m with Roman steps
