This beautiful house is light, cool and spacious and of superb  quality. For a village house (the original building on the site was the village brasserie), it has very large grounds of about half an acre with mature shrubs and trees and very exotic planting - palms, etcetera.
Situated in the village of Argeliers in the Minervois on the Canal du Midi,, approximately 17 km from Narbonne, which is a lovely town with good shopping facilities and an excellent open-air and daily covered market. Argeliers itself has basic shops, including a grocery store and two bakeries, so no long car drives to get your bread in the morning. There are two restaurants, one of which has its own large swimming pool and is worth visiting if only to see its collection of wonderful plants, the other nicely situated on the banks of the canal. In addition, there are two municipal tennis courts about 100 metres from the house.
The nearest coastal resorts are Gruissan (also a birdwatcher's paradise) and Valras or Narbonne Plage, all approximately 25 km. Minerve, the main town of the Minervois, is a lovely place to explore and the splendid fortified Cathar town of Carcassonne is not much more than half and hour by car. If you can drag youself away from the immediate area, there is a wealth of possibilities for sightseeing with the Cevennes and Pyrenees, Spain and Andorra all within easy reach, as well as the more local attractions of the area with its miles of sandy beaches and lagoons.

Entrance into large hall area with splendid marble staircase to first floor. Study with convertible settee. Large living room with comfortable furniture, double sofa bed, archway to dining room, kitchen/breakfast room with combined oven/grill/microwave, electric ceramic hob, fridge, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with bath, wash basin, bidet, separate WC, Utility with washing machine.
First floor:
3 bedrooms, one with dressing area. Further bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom with bath, wash basin, bidet and WC. Linen and cots are included in the rental cost, but please bring pool towels and cot linen.
Over half an acre of grounds with large terrace and lawns, mature planting, shrubs and trees. Summer kitchen.(for 2001). Superb swimming pool of 11 m x 5 m with Roman steps, fountain and underwater lighting. Terrace with garden furniture and barbecue. Swing, playhouse, room with table tennis.
